BRIAN DERBYSHIRE FOR MAYOR STRATHROY-CARADOC

BRIAN DERBYSHIRE

FOR MAYOR

THE TIME IS NOW.

Plan Smart. Spend Smart.

Practical leadership. Responsible spending. Long-term thinking. A municipal government that respects every tax dollar.

MEET BRIAN

Farmer. Father. Councillor.

I ran for Council because I believed our community deserved practical decision-making, responsible spending and representatives willing to ask difficult questions before decisions are made.

Four years on Council have strengthened that belief. I’m running for Mayor because Strathroy-Caradoc can grow and prosper while keeping affordability, accountability and common sense at the centre of every decision.

MY PRIORITIES

PLAN SMART. SPEND SMART.

Growth and progress matter. So does making sure taxpayers can afford them.

Respect Every Tax Dollar

Know what we’re buying, why we need it, what it will ultimately cost and how we will pay for it.

Plan Before We Commit

Major projects need a clear scope, realistic costs, funding plans and long-term operating impacts before taxpayers are committed.

Protect What We Own

Roads, bridges, water, wastewater and recreation infrastructure must be maintained before we continually add more.

Manage Growth Responsibly

Growth should strengthen our municipality without unfairly shifting infrastructure costs onto existing taxpayers.

Use Debt Carefully

Borrowing should serve a clear long-term public benefit—not become the default answer to every capital challenge.

Accountable Government

Council should understand the problem, debate the options and clearly explain major decisions to the people paying the bill.

GO BEYOND THE SLOGANS

Read the Mayor’s Handbook

I want you to know not only what I believe, but how I intend to make decisions as Mayor. Read the complete plan, the principles behind it and the standards I will hold myself to.
